OCing handguns is pretty common in Michigan, I have seen quite a few, and those picnics also have huge turn outs. OC is so common in Michigan that the MSP has to put bulletins out for the LEO community to brush up on the law, and not harass people. You named three cases, all involving long rifles. It happens. Don't paint Michigan in the attention whore brush because of the actions of three cases.
Everyone should leave their personal opinions out of each and every law based decision, and simply follow the laws of the land.
