Found a good bit of news for us Okies. OK2A Lauds Passage Of Open Carry, No-confiscation Bills | The McCarville Report
Sounds like a very bad day for the OK :sheep:, and that's good news...congrats OK:hand9:
I heard a knowledgable commentator on a radio show on my way home today that expects this to fly through the committee and be signed by our govenor at least by the end of May. If so, we would have legal open carry with CWP effective 11-1-12.

I was borned and raised in Ok, used to have a gun rack in my pick-up, with a shotgun and 22 hanging in it. That was back in the 70's though.
Wow. I thought OCing worked against us and encouraged stricter gun laws. Guess I need to stop listening to what I hear on these boards. Good for OK!!
You're being premature with your congratulations. The same legislators who have voted for these open carry Bills this session are now doing what they can to insure that they die quietly in committee. The exact same tactics they used under the former Governor.
They voted for the Bill in order to get the pro-gun vote. Now theses same legislators are going to do whatever they can to ensure the Bills they voted for will die in committee. Thus garnering them the votes of the anti-gun voters.
Its a win win for them. How often do they get a chance to use the same piece of legislation to gain support from voters on each of the opposing sides on the issue?

Current status:
SA's rejected, conference requested, naming Conference Committee on Public Safety, Judiciary and Military Affairs 1024 04/26/2012 H
I'll be posting the rejected amendments in another thread. This one will be a doozie...

Many of the same legislators who voted for open carry are now working to kill it by adding amendments that they know will not pass.

I hope it passes Im only 20 minutes from the border and would like to try OC
Thanks for the updates, guys. I find it ludicrous that there needs to a bill that "allows" me to carry on rural private property. It also looks like we have a ways to go before we get constitutional carry. I've got my fingers crossed that this will actually go forward and get signed into law.
HB 2522:
Conference granted, SCs named Treat, Barrington, Sykes, Russell, Burrage, Garrison 05/03/2012 S
Debate on this Bill is going on live right now.
