We can't forget that under Florida law police officers to have the right to make a potentially dangerous situation safe. Even for a concealed carry traffic stop if the officer discovers, or you volunteer, that you have a weapon they do have the right to take it from you and secure it in their cruiser for the remainder of the traffic stop. He (the officer) was just asking for some distance between the subject and himself which I completely understand. I would never have dreamed to argue that point... it's a good way to get drawn on or tasered or whatever.
I know what the subject was trying to do but it was just in poor taste. We need to let the GOA, NRA, and Florida Carry lobby for rights in a Legislative way not fight things on YouTube.

Well, police are supposed to know the law in order to enforce it. And, we have these little things called amendments to the Constituion that make up what we like to call a Bill of Rights. And, there is one of my personal favorites, the 14th amenment that applied the 4th to local governments. Police should know that you are NOT required to talk to them or to identify yourself. They are not supposed to bother you unless they can demonstrate a reasonable suspicion that you have broken a law. Carrying open while holding your fishing pole by a fishing pier hardly qualifies as resonable suspicion...

The fisherman reminds me of Rosa Parks. Sometimes freedom fighters have to challenge the system to change it and to ensure it is working poperly. In this case the young freedom loving man had a cop check him out for committing a legal act. I thought freedom loving gun owners would want to ensure all governments, local all the way to federal, would want our rights respected and the ability to ezerise our rights without harassment.

When the officer saw him, he was not fishing and had no fishing equipment...so it was reasonable to suspect he was breaking a law by open carrying in Florida. When they went down on the pier, he was not in the act of fishing either. He directed them to a pole some ways down the pier and told them it was his.
I'm all for protecting our rights, and I go abuot doing that in a positive manner. One way to get more people thinking negatively about gun owners overall is to act like a goober and peeve off the police.
