When I saw that last night I was surprised they actually filmed that segment without staying in close all the time. I also noticed he was not carrying during the parade though. Wonder if that was his choice, AI or the LEOs asking.
After he sang his song and the judges commented, Ryan told them they might want to be careful because he saw Phil's dad "packing heat" in the recorded segment. It got a good laugh.

Phillip's dad comes across as being a very nice guy as well. The little glimpse America got of his sidearm last night probably helped the open carry cause 100 times more than the cop baiters with the video cameras out there on the streets. He owns a pawn shop that sells guns same concept as your Lgs employees there was something said to the effect that you better watch how you judge him his dad was packing heat kidding of course last night. That comment made to tonight's shows highlight reel for Phillip and they showed his dad again it was some kinda of glock I think.
