open carry at kansas parks
I like to cc but there is a couple of places that i might oc at. Yesterday at my little girls tee ball ball park there is a sign at the door that says "no consealed weapons". Well if they dont want me to conseal it then i'll open carry it. I have tried to look up open carry laws in kansas and havent found too much on it but i do know it is lega in my county. I would just cc there but you cannot carry at sporting events i beleive. Any help will be welcome and i know were not laywers here.

It's my experience that in Kansas you need to check with the local law enforcement about that specific city's laws and ordinances. I do believe municipalities can preempt state laws there.

Go to KSCCW.com is growing... ... and ask the question... good place to also get clarification of the laws, other local info, etc.
OC is legal as far as the State laws.... but counties, cities, towns, etc. can regulate open carry. There is some debate going on between the cities and Atty Gen at this point, about what that means. The AG is saying... they cannot prohibit conceal carry licensees from open carry ... they can only regulate 'how' someone may carry open (due to changes in the law) , and the Cities are arguing the opposite. I wouldn't want to be the test case.
Do you have a CC license ? It doesn't sound like it, so asking, because you didn't say clearly one way or the other.
If you have a CC license.... "only" buildings can be posted with the AG approved signage to prohibit carrying. Sporting events are not illegal to carry at.... although you may see some signs at gates.... but ,it is not illegal unless it's a building that's posted. If you enter a building or what can be called a building to get in ... then they "got ya"... because you couldn't get in , without going thru the building. Again, "only" buildings can be posted, and parking garages don't qualify at all as a building.
Anyway, no where is illegal to carry concealed in Kansas if you have a CC permit (unless posted with the AG signage) except for the Governor's mansion & grounds, and on Federal Lands (including Corp of Engineer lakes or property). Watch OUT .. how it's worded, because people read it ... "these places are restricted " ........ but the wording right before that says .... "IF" conspiciously posted with the AG approved signage" . They kept the original wording, and then just added prior to that they are only restricted from conceal carry .. IF (BIG "IF") .... conspicously posted withe AG's approved signage.

So, for open carry ... it all depends upon the country or city. Topeka (state Capital) , if is legal to open carry there.

ill have to join up at ksccw, but yes i have my Kansas concealed carry license. I am thinking i cannot carry there because of this wordage:
(7) any facility hosting an athletic event not related to or involving firearms which is sponsored by a private or public
elementary or secondary school or any private or public institution of postsecondary education;
The event is put on by HRC or Hays recreation Commission, i dont think they qualify as any of these but i didnt really want to push it. I have been planning on sending a email to the county attorney but i havent really had the time, but i shall do it tonight. Thanks for all replies.
edit looks like i cant email him, call or letter only.
