That officer did not ID him, so clearly that was not the reason. He was not asked his age.

I can see that as being a reason, YES but clearly not the case here.

I think both parties did a good job. Personally, I would have spoken to the officer but I have no problem with how the OCer handled this.

It looked to me like the officer was a bit peeved but he remained calm, followed the law and sent the OCer on his way. Kudos to him.

It is surely true that you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. Nor can you make them grateful for your efforts.

I sent this in today via E-mail

    To Whom it may concern,

Hello. I just wanted to send a quick E-mail to your police department to tell you that I appreciated the behavior of on of your officers. I recently watched a YouTube video "starring" Officer Evans. I wanted to say that I liked how he handled himself in the situation.
In the video Officer Evans encountered a man who appeared to be legally carrying a firearm. When the man in question chose to remain silent the situation became awkward. Officer Evans could have acted angrily or unprofessionally as many persons would be prone to do under the same circumstances. Instead he acted in a calm professional manner and sent the man on his way unmolested.
I would like to thank Office Evans for his professionalism. He appears to be a credit to his uniform and to your department.

    Thank you,
