    Open Carriers get ready!

In light of the overnight shootings in Colorado, get ready for an increase in MWAG calls. Soccer Moms and libs with nothing better to do will feel compelled to suddenly "Get Involved" and call the police on law abiding OCers!

I'm not sure that there will be an increase in calls for people legally open carrying a holstered handgun. If you're open carrying an AR-15 or AK-47, in many cities, somebody might make a call.

Gene, you're giving people way too much credit. The kind of people who panic when they see a gun in public don't distinguish a shoulder-mounted howitzer from a .380 Sig. A gun's a gun to them, and if somebody has one in public (esp. after the Colo. shootings) he intends to kill in their minds. And as for the word "legally" ... even a lot of LEO's don't know their own state's OC and CC laws as has been amply demonstrated right here on this website. Carry -- or not -- at your own risk but don't think people are going to be comforted by a law-abiding OCer.

You may be right. We'll see. I would expect that there might be different reactions depending on the locality. Open carrying in San Francisco would probably provoke more of a reaction than open carrying in Flagstaff.

What's probably ironic, I bet the theater had a gunbuster sign up.

I wonder if the theater was posted?
Ignorance is a long way from stupid, but left unchecked, can get there real fast.

I'm reading that Cinemark's policy is that only LEO can carry on their property.

Absolutely. It's very region-specific. i just posted on the OC thread that I've never -- not once in my entire life -- seen somebody OC. They may've been doing so and I just missed it, but I've never seen anybody doing it. I did hear (right here at DC) about an NC man (DC member) who was thrown over the hood of his car outside a Kinko's because a woman called in a MWAG when he was OCing while having copies made. Perfectly legally.

This whole event will just affirm the UN and Obamas stance on firearms and ruin it for the rest of us. I feel bad about the whole issue. Maybe had there been som OC'rs there, they coulda defended themselves and saved a lot more people. I don't know. I'm just sayin.

There will be a lot of bluster about new gun control but I bet nothing will come of it. If nothing changed after the Giffords shooting in Arizona I doubt anything will change this time.

I open carried as usual today, not a word said to me, no little old ladies fainted, no flashing lights and blaring sirens. Either the people here in the Richmond area accept people going about their business lawfully carrying, or they don't see a 60+ year old man as a threat.

Let them call. If the cop is worth a rip they will watch and when they see nothing illegal going on they will move on to their next call. It really is that easy.

Yes, that entire chain has gunbuster signs. It's policy. Too bad. At least a couple of patrons probably have licenses.

I'll try to find the article I read this morning and post it.

I was out and about and saw a couple others openly carrying, one purchasing a bunch of ammo and supplies at the local shop. Nobody paid any attention to any of us.
