I'm in Oklahoma and I respect those who are exercising their right to Open Carry now. Personally, I'll stick to CC for a number of my own reasons.
I will open carry when I go fishing or camping though.

Didn't see anyone OCing in my neck of the woods today. I'm glad the law passed it gives us okies options. Unfortunatly I have seen new NO Firearms signs around that wern't there last week.

Congrats on your new open carry law. I hope a good number of gun owners take advantage of it, though I have my doubts. I have seen only one person other than myself open carrying in any area my State.

I used to OC on occasion in Virginia. I saw it in rural areas a bit but seldom in the larger cities and towns. Now that I'm in Florida it's CC only. If Florida legalized it tomorrow, I'm not sure that I would ever OC here. This is a much more populated area than I previously lived and I can see the merits of the BG not knowing you're armed. It would be nice to have that option available though. Congrats on the law change and hope it turns out to be a positive thing there.

There should be a run on "rails" at the local supply stores, in Illinois. All the better for runnin' them all outta town on a rail. The liberty haters in office, that is. Doesn't seem like much is going to change, without it.

I feel for ya, in IL. Keep yer left up.

Well if you would take the voting booths out of the Chicago graveyards, you might stand a chance of some reform in the state!

OC is legal in Wisconsin also but it's not something I want/will do. I am not sure how my small town would take to it. I can just imagine however. Most likely end up in the weekly news paper or some #$@@# like that.

I'm a little confused. Looking at the first page on handgun law.us for Ok it says that cc from other states that "it must be carried fully concealed from detection and view". So can I open carry with an Arkansas ccp?

Well, it seems confusing as there are two versions of that section of law that seem to be in effect. You can see them both here:

I carry always not because I go places trouble is likely, but because trouble has a habit of not staying in its assigned zone.

No. Open Carry reciprocity on OC. I asked an Oklahoma Deputy. They grandfathered the Oklahoma. Concealed permit holders to open carry (which means to me you need a permit to open carry) . But the legislature did not address reciprocity outsiders, so as he said "to be determined later".

DG - getting legal readings from LEOs is like getting your fortune read by a Gypsy - it's not necessarily so.

The new OK law does in fact allow for OC by out of staters who have a valid permit from their state, or if they are from one of the no permit needed states. See my link above.
