Non Event
I have recently purchased a new cell phone. It is quite large and will not fit a conventional phone holster.
I have someone making me one as my edc holster relies on a connection with a phone holster. (Pager Pal)
Ergo, I have been openly carrying for about three weeks now. No one seems to care. No harsh looks, no comments,...nada! Been to banks, Walmarts, Costcos, grocery stores, gun shops, the American Legion Post, even the Independant Order of Odd Fellows Lodge. No one bats an eye. I went to the local jail to try to get in touch with a Deputy friend of mine...no one was concerned there either.
God Bless the Commonwealth of Virginia.

apparently his new phone is actually a gun, could be dangerous answering a call.
I'm not even going to ask how he dials, unless its a revolver that works like an old rotary phone :D LOL

Either that, or it really was a cell phone, and he's just making fun of the whole "open carry harassment" thing.

I want to hear more about the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge. Assuming of course that it means strange/nerdy/weird and not something else. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Aw heck, you know what I mean.
So it's like a real thing, eh?
Congrats on the open carry (assuming you're talking about your firearm). I'm trying to decide if I'm going to go that route or not. Almost no one does in my county (that I've seen in years and years) although I know from stats that lots of people in the county have a cpl. I know the head of MSP in our area is very much against it. Perhaps that means it's time for someone to start doing it?
Hmmmmmmm,

As "phones" get larger, I'm betting the knee-jerk reactions of folks will continue to disappear. So many seem to have so much strapped to them, these days, that just another person with a bulge on the hip doesn't seem to garner nearly as much attention as it once did.
Glad you survived your "nothing" encounters. Glad that nobody got bent and irrational, with senseless MWAG/UWO calls. Gotta love sanity, when everyone else shows they've got at least some of it.

OK, Sorry. I made the mistake of assuming that everyone knows what I know (in my limited capacity).
A Pager Pal holster is one that is hidden UNDER and INSIDE of your belt and pants. Near your thigh. It is hard to get to in an emergency if you wear it as a stand alone holster. It was MADE to hook on to the clasp of a phone holster/ eye glass case/ pager that is worn on the OUTSIDE of the belt and pants. As one picks up the pager/phone/eyeglass case (by lifting it off and up from the belt) with the off-hand, the INSIDE holster comes out of your pants and you are able to grasp the handgun with your shooting hand. I have been using one for about ten years and it is really a comfortable and quick drawing item. Look it up on the net.

GUNSANDVIOLENCE.....The Independent Order of Odd Fellows is a Fraternal Organization that was started in England in the 18th century. It is somewhat akin to the Masons. There are over 12,000 Lodges and are located in the majority of countries that make up our world.
We, as a whole, provide funds to the Arthritis Foundation (largest contributor each year) and created the Johns Hopkins Eye Bank (and also the largest contributor) along with our obligations to "Feed the hungry, educate the orphan, console the widow and bury the dead". We also have a Rose Bowl Parade Float. Look for it when you watch the festivities.

I OC most of the time without anyone freaking out. 99.9% of the comments I get are either curious questions, or supporting comments. I am surprised nothing was said at Costco, since it is corporate policy of no guns allowed.

Yep, that's the way it is in the vast majority of cases, stories to the contrary notwithstanding.

Re: Non Event
Surprised about Costco? I'm surprised about jail, you didn't go in ever far or everyone just assumed that you were a detective.
Ky is pretty ccdw/open carry friendly but in jail is a HUGE NO NO, maybe up to the window but not inside.

Jgriner......
persactly right. Not IN the jail, but at the window outside that is bulletproof and you talk to the Deputy in Charge and ask to talk to someone that works there. My buddy came outside and we had a discussion.
Sorry if I gave the wrong impression.

Probably has one of these...

HAD one, but there was too much background noise when I was trying to carry on a conversation.
