I got a valuable lesson today (for free)

It gets hot here in TX, not news to anybody, as a result my typical clothing is a T-shirt and a loose fitting short sleeve button down shirt.

Thy can discretely accommodate most guns/holsters I carry and enough other men wear them that they do not attract particular attention.

I was shooting IDPA this evening (or getting ready in the safe area) and even though its not fashionable with the fast shooters I still shoot while concealing my weapon.

Anyway- in the safe area I snagged (my unloaded) XDM on a tag with a spare button sewn onto it. It got caught in my slide release.

I cut it off and was glad it happened where/when it did. Shirts like these are my regular carry attire.

I remove those buttons because they generally hit my pistol or spare mags and make a clicking sound. It's a small thing (not like snagging your weapon), but still a potential giveaway so they disappear very quickly.

It may interfere with a draw when you really don't want anything to impede or slow it down

    ^Right I didn't realize that was confusing.

You don't want your gun stuck to your shirt.

This is one of the reasons I've done IPSC/IDPA and courses with my carry gear and clothing, always. You never know what training with the real gear and clothing is going to show, either weaknesses, limitations or outright failures. Good lesson, indeed.

Good post. It may give some insight to others who have not experienced this or thought about it.
