    New OC'er in WA

I currently live in CA where OC is illegal and CC is almost impossible in my county. Needless to say I have yet to carry outside of my home. I will be heading to Washington in the next few months and will be applying for a CPL, until i receive the CPL I would like to OC. I'm just curious as to the response to OC in the Seattle/Everett area from anybody in that area. Also, if anybody has any tips or helpful advice for a first time OC i would greatly appreciate it.

    Welcome to the forum!

I assume you have already checked out Handgunlaw.us. If you haven't, I urge you to do so. Gary has done a tremendous amount of work putting it together.

As far as Seattle, I have no specific information, but from what others have posted in the past, be prepared for an avalanche of MWAG calls if you OC in Seattle.

In most outlying areas OC will probably not get much notice, unless you are OCing a long gun in starbucks

In the greater Seattle area, expect to be a pariah.

Fortunately, CPL processing is reasonably quick here.

Thats good to hear, I read that it order to apply you must show proof that you have been living there for more than 90 days, do you know if that applies to military also? i have been looking but cant seem to find my answer.

and Hopefully the majority of my time will be spent north of Seattle.

Consider Seattle and vicinity as an extension of CA. Too many CA emigrants there.

Welcome from due west of Seattle. When I got my permit all I did was showed the my license, filled out a form, and was fingerprinted. Took 5 days (including a weekend) to get it in the mail.

I would open carry in the suburbs of Seattle and downtown if I had to (waiting on permit.) I think if you are discreet you won't have (m)any issues. Portland would be a different story.

I was catching a ferry one day at the Seattle terminal and saw 4 men OC'ing and walking their dogs around the parking lot. No issues.

IMO if you aren't looking for a scene in most cases there won't be one.
Again, welcome to WA, hope you have a rain jacket.

If you are military, you don't need to wait the 90 days, you are considered a resident immediately.

That eases the mind greatly, Protecting my family and I is the only concern, causing a scene is not. I appreciate the input.

Hey new transplant in the works. So far as OC goes the mayor of Seattle is rabidly Anti gun. If you plan to OC there you're gonna wanna have a sharp 2A attorney on speed dial. I've lived 2 counties north of Seattle close to 40 years after having grown up in the jet city as a kid.

I wouldn't OC down there on a bet.
