Spotted open carry in play park

We took the kiddos out to a nice play park yesterday. Beautiful day, lots of parents and kids out. And one guy wearing an archery t-shirt and open carrying, playing with his kid on the teeter-totter. I didn't get close enough to see what exactly he had, but it appeared to be a Glock IWB at 5 o'clock.

Funny thing, there was no stampede of screaming children headed towards the exit, and panicked parents dialing 911. Actually, I think most people were too busy following their children around to notice. No mayhem and blood - who would've thought!

    Gotta love Tennessee.

I've been seeing more open carry at stores lately. Not my thing but if it works for you go for it.

OC and nobody paying attention to it is not that unusual here in Vegas, and even less people paying attention to it in our small town and rural areas like Pahrump,NV. I'm not a real fan of OC, but I'm glad that it is an option, especially on the rare occasion the wind catches my shirt and my carry becomes visible.

Most people are not aware of who and what is around them and would not even see the gun. Open carry is legal in Oregon. Yesterday, I showered after doing some yard work and went by the LGS late in the afternoon. I was wearing a Ruger T-shirt over a 5" Dan Wesson 1911 on my belt with a Sig P938 in my pocket and I had on my S&W hat. I usually wear an oversized t-shirt or shirt for concealed carry. The Ruger t-shirt was thinner and my regular size, so the 1911 was detectable if anyone paid attention. My wife called me to tell me she had two prescriptions ready to pick up at WalMart. I hesitated stopping because of my dress, but stopped by anyway. I carefully watched everyone for negative or positive recognition in the crowded store. There was not one speck of recognition or awareness in anyone's eyes. No one noticed what I was wearing or what I was carrying. I was at least expecting a frown or a smile.

For tactical reasons I conceal carry, but if someone wants to open carry and puts his best face forward with it (as in, representing us well to the public), then more power to him. It's always good to see people unafraid of it (even though in most cases it's because they didn't notice).

I enjoy playing "spot the OC/CC."

While Texas is not an OC state yet, I want the choice for others but I wouldn't personally. I prefer CC.

If the person looks ...NOT CRAZY! And going about their own business, not being a danger to others, and not really paying attention to anything other than their own business/companions, I think most people assume that "all is well". And are correct in their assumptions.

I hope you gave him the phone number for a good gunsmith. It's obvious his gun was defective!

The fear of OC is greater than the reality.

Surprised there was no news story with some moms screaming "Won't somebody PLEASE think of the children?!"

I carried my gun all over town today and nobody noticed.

    Oh well, I was concealed.
