    Open carry demonstration in Texas

    Forum folks:

If you can see this link, I'm curious what you think. It's creating a lot of comments. Hope you can view it:

Here is part of the description of what they are doing:

In Texas it is illegal to open-carry modern handguns, it is legal however to open-carry longguns. so in a planned and welcomed demonstration by Pro Opencarry organizations this was the real scene. They are trying to raise awareness that open carry laws should change. the negavite light being shown about this event has been perpetrated by the same antigun, bloomberg payroll, freedom hating idiots that thimk we should not own guns at all. The antigun customers in the restaurant called the police, who responed with " you arent breaking any laws, Have a nice day, Keep up the good work"

I don't think those kind of "demonsrations" help our cause at all.

5 guys in a McDonalds? EDIT- sorry, Arby's..??? doesn't matter...

    that's pretty pointless.

now if those 5 guys rallied support and got even a few dozen or a few hundred to hang out next to the capitol building for a few hours? maybe actually have some sort of educational literature handy?

this looks like a fools errand

I don't like it but I have to live with it. It is their right to do so but they don't seem to realize such actions have a negative effect. Not a good way to promote our cause.

Well, basically, the same story is running here: Chipotle Asks Customers Not To Bring In Guns

In California, it was legal to carry unloaded handguns openly, without a permit.

Open carry organizations in CA had rallies at Starbucks, and in parks. This occurred over the course of a couple of years.

    The legislature "fixed"the problem.

No one can carry in California without a permit.

Granted, CALI is exponentially more liberal than TX, but that doesn't mean the legislators won't put an end to "this monkey business."

Right or no right, the average sheepish American doesn't want to eat his tacos, burgers, or chicken wings, with armed "Patriots" who are getting the guacamole all over their stocks.
    Rats!
    It could be worse!
    I suppose

In the 3rd photo the next to last guy to the right has his finger in the trigger area. Can't tell if it's exactly over the trigger but it's enough to scare someone, even a pro gun person. Is that legal ? You sure can't do that with a handgun in places where handgun OC is legal.

These guys are showing off, not defending our rights.

Guy on the right has barrel pointed right at the last guy's knee cap. Muzzle awareness? Maybe Texas will finally allow open carry of handguns. Way more practical and will draw less criticism.

I have made my thoughts on OC pretty clear so I will stand aside on this thread and let you guys debate the merits. To answer the question though... I think the behavior in the photos lack prudence.

We have open carry in Louisiana . In some places it can be an issue and others, none at all. In my neighborhood, a MWAG call would be out of the norm. In New Orleans, well, who knows?

OC is an option, sometimes the only available option, but done with maturity and responsibility, it can be as normal and unobtrusive as carrying a briefcase .
