Open Carry Texas Visits Chili's & Sonic

Looks like "Open Carry Texas" decided to go to a Chili's and when they got asked to leave their guns in their cars they decided to go to a Sonic.

Members of the pro-gun group Open Carry Texas reportedly continued their crusade to promote the right to open carry firearms, this time at a Texas Sonic and Chili’s franchise. They were ultimately asked to leave both establishments...

I don't have much to add other than I hope Texas legalizes the open carry of handguns and repeals the 30.06 law.

And I do wish that these people would exercise more safety and discipline when carrying their firearms.

No Comment! All I know is that the overly aggressive Open Carry groups destroyed CA concerning how to legally transport firearms and other issues. The state laws also changed to severely restrict Open Carry.

They followed the law. Asked to leave, and they did.

As to whether or not they accomplished anything, that is debatable.

Why do you wish that Texas would repeal the 30.06 statute, it is only applicable to concealed handguns? Do you not think that property owners should have control over their own property?
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

If I was in my business and some guys walk in carrying rifles, I'm getting my shotgun and calling 911.
I've carried a gun for years only for protection, never for show or to make a point. I love peace and right, and I know both have enemies. When I'm in the range I show off my guns, have fun , and share them with friends. In any other situation my gun is doing a serious job, hidden and ready to serve me.

in many instances, certain behavior is not addressed by statute and laws are not written due to the fact that an overall consistent prudence makes it unnecessary. When people begin to routinely act with an absence of prudence, that's when previously unaddressed issues are examined by the legislature at the prompting of the populous.

I said, "I hope Texas legalizes the open carry of handguns and repeals the 30.06 law." If Texas legalizes the open carry of handguns without repealing the 30.06 statue, there is a good chance that some businesses which aren't currently posted with 30.06 signs will decide to post 30.06 signs…kind of like the mall that posted 30.06 signs after the gun store owner open carried his long gun in the mall.

I copied the video link in the article.

    From the article:

Both demonstrations were reportedly filmed by the group, but were later removed for some reason. Mother Jones reportedly obtained copies of the videos and published them.

If Texas would simply make handgun OC legal all this long gun carrying that they have legal to OC would mostly stop in Texas. It is what those guys are trying to get done.

I can OC a shotgun rifle or handgun here and nobody pays any attention because there zip that can be done about it. But unless I actually have a need to OC a long gun I dont. I can OC a handgun if I dont want to CC or didnt want a CC permit.

These guys cant and are doing all they have legally left to do to make their point. Not everyone wants a CCl. Or the fees etc that go with that.

Of course Texas probably will muddle up the water and make things even more tense instead of just making OC of a handgun legal as it should be anyway.

And force of law should be removed from all gun buster signs in all states.

Alabama is a state where the signs mean nothing, I walk right through them and nobody knows. If I printed and I was asked to leave I do have to, but I know how to conceal a firearm. And no, I don't think public businesses should be able to restrict firearms (WITH A SIGN). Otherwise, sooner or later ALL of them would have signs up and my CC permit would mean nothing. I'd only be able to carry in my car.

I never OC'd a long gun into a restaurant even during my hunting days. While it may be a right, I try to be respectful of other customers, even when their bickering kids and crying babies are not respectful of me. Frankly, I find open carried ARs much less annoying.

This tactic succeeded in causing Chipotle to ask all their customers not to carry at all. I do not support this and I feel actions such as this are detrimental to our cause. I would feel somewhat apprehensive if a group of people carrying long guns came into a restaurant where I was eating. Just because you can (legally)do something doesn't mean you should do it.

I'm just wondering when these actions are going to cause the legislature to vote on making oc'ing a long gun illegal? I understand it's legal and a right, however when these instances keep happening it could very well go completely against what they really want to accomplish. Unless what they want is to just be seen, then their getting that now.

You mean PRIVATE businesses open to the public? If you owned a business, you'd want some control over who or what you allow into your establishment. After all, I doubt someones idea to bring a bazooka into a privately owned business would go over well, and to make law that private business has to eat that sheet is restrictive and capricious in nature.

Where would it end? I'm not wearing shoes and a shirt,is it tough teety for the business, they have NO right to refuse service or ask me to leave? You've obviously never owned your own business. You exhibit typical mindset of a pro 2a. You can do anything you like as long as you don't trample my 2a. It's a bunch of bs if you ask me.
