    Missouri now open carry?

I read a news release today saying the Governor signed into law the legislation on his desk regarding firearms. One of those, according to the article, was an amendment abolishing all local laws banning open carry.

Has anyone else heard this? I go to Missouri a lot and they honor my Illinois CCL. I wonder if they will allow open carry on an out-of-state permit?

Any opinions or knowledge of this new legislation?

Check out Handgunlaw.us, Gary probably has some information there, or at least may have some links you can pursue to get your answers.

I haven't heard anything about this and I'm sure it would have been all over the news.

My understanding is that Missouri's preemption law does not cover open carry, so local laws may prohibit it.

Yes, that's been true, however the legislature delivered a bill to the governor overriding that and preempting open carry. I thought I saw on the new that the Gov signed it but I can't find evidence of this online. The bill is SB656.

SB656 - Modifies provisions relating to firearms and corporate security advisors

Delivered to the Governor. If he signed it, then it's law and MOmo land is open carry anywhere with a permit (which is not already prohibited under the law).

The bill does quite a bit more than that though! Now I know what Democrats must feel like when they have a supermajority and ram socialism down our throats! Freedom tastes so much sweeter!

Ah, the local media has been focusing on the armed teachers part, that's why I hadn't heard of it. Now I've read the entire bill I like it! OK, I'm probably not going to open carry in St. Louis City but it would be nice knowing I could!

Looked on Nixon's website, couldn't find whether he vetoed or signed - may be just waiting for it to go into law w/o his signature.

He has 45 days after the end of the session to sign or veto the Bill. Hopefully he is just waiting, as you said.

I can't see Jay Nixon signing that...
