I agree, i don't understand the logic of stating that one has a CWP...thought it was supposed to be confidential. Any media hound can find one's name and publish it since it was declared on a public format. A no-no to me.
Fortunately, out governor had the common sense to deny FOI rights to the media seeking the names of CWP holders wanting that info. However, stating such on a public petition negates that.

I agree with the speculation about stating CWP status... however, I think that in the media's eyes (or anyone else we don't want knowing names of who has/carries CCW's) there is little to no difference in someone signing the petition circulated on the internet and someone who signs and states CWP possession.
Frankly, I glanced through the list and recognized the names of no less than four people I know personally: none of them from my gun ventures, none of whom have any idea I am licensed and carrying daily... But now I and any opportunistic criminal know they are most likely armed, and at the very least have guns at home.
Though I support the idea, I will not put my name out there publicly! I will call and write my legislators when the bill is on the floor, but I will not offer up this information for an internet petition that will likely not go anywhere. My personal opinion is that need-to-know-basis information should not be advertised unless there is a strong probability of it accomplishing something. A petition has no power in the law making process. A bill with a sponsor does.
just my opinion, fwiw. I support the idea... but I want to be wise about how I support it.

I think I was the 1008th person to sign. The few folks after me are folks I sent there who I know in my area. I cant believe we only have 1075 sigs right now. I better get to spreading the word.

So a bill has been filed for open carry. Now we need everyone to contact their legislators to see it through. Many of us doubt it will make it but its a start.
There will be several other items brought up this year as well.
