Open you can Find the RCW's in Washington State at Chapter 9.41 RCW: Firearms and dangerous weapons and OpenCarry.org - A Right Unexercised is a Right Lost!
Open carry in Washington State is Legal.. Although there are some stipulations.. If you are anyways blocking the firearm visually or get in your car you are not legal unless you have CPL. There are both cities that are pro OC and vice versa althogh its legal everywhere.. My advice is to get on OpenCarry.com and check out their info.. This forum is mainly for people who CC.. I can tell you that the Olympia are is OC friendly and the Pierce County Tacoma area is not.

I am glad you found the rcw's, man i was looking all over the website.
I have found that the closer i get to metro areas the more the leo's get nervous about oc like tacoma, seattle, or bellevue but get more rural and the leo's are more relaxed about it, I guess it kind of makes sense tacoma and seattle do have a lot of crimes but they also have more people living in and around there.
but i have seen that leo will laugh at you if you dress like a mall ninja, after of course them checking you out making sure you're not a threat. lol
Here's a few bulletins that someone put together.

Open carry is legal, but the fact that large departments needed bulletins made to send out to their patrol officers should be your first indication of trouble.

I OC in Thurston and Pierce County without any issue.
Ok, I'm really dumbfounded right now. I was positive that WA was not an open carry state. I've obviously misunderstood the laws, even though I have read through the RCW pages. Can someone point me to the paragraph/section that says that open carry is legal? I'd like to see the wording.

According to OpenCarry.org Washington is an Open Carry State.

There may be more info there for you on it.

Yes, and this is the case for virtually everything. In order for something to be illegal, there must be a law that makes it illegal.
For example, there is no law that says you can walk down the street chewing bubble gum. Yet it is legal, because there is no law saying that you cannot.

I just searched for and found another thread on this issue. Yes, you guys are right, it's the lack of laws which would prohibit open carry that make it legal.
Well, that is good to know. I like the idea of not getting into trouble for accidentally showing my weapon in public, for instance when taking off or changing my jacket. I don't plan on open carrying in the cities/towns for already discussed reasons, but I'm glad know that it'd be legal.
Thanks!![]()
