Generally OC is allowed in NC. However, each city can make there own regs.
I've OC'd in the Mooresville area. I know it's much more NW of Charlotte rather than SE of Charlotte, but I've never had any issues other than a couple of nervous stares. It's perfectly legal, but from what I've been told by some friends that OC in NC, you always have to be prepared for the "man with a gun" call to 911.
I have OC'd in Greensboro, W.S and here in Surry County, but it is very rare. I just don't like the attention and all the questions. I prefer concealed.

Just checking because Im up there so often. Usually its just WalMart or Tractor Supply. Id like to OC on occasion to maybe help in the desensitizing of the sheep but I also dont want to have to deal with the whole "man with a gun" thing.

Now that I'm officially permitted to own my gun, I have only 2 choices: 1) Don't carry at all, or 2) Open Carry till the CC permit comes through in oh...60-120 days. I'm in Lake Norman, but I'd be happy to hang out and OC with you and Enfd250. (we can all go to the range in Iredell afterwards!)
Plus, if I'm going to OC, I'd rather not do it alone. Not the first time, at least.

I don't OC (I'm in Monroe), but I have seen several folks doing so in Union County.

All-American, don't think I would open carry in Wal Mart. All of them that I am familiar with will ask you to leave - failure to do so will result in trespassing charges. They will even tell people when their concealed carry is showing. I'm like most of the members here - I like it concealed and don't want to advertize.
