Maybe y'all can help. I frequent the state of Utah, and a resident carrier told me that in Utah if you have CCW permit, you must carry concealed and that to carry open would be an infraction of law. Now, this didn't make sense to me, because Utah is an open carry state....Perhaps someone can enlighten me. I know of no such rule in my home state of AZ.

Utah allows open carry if you have a CCW permit. However, open carry isn't that common and I've heard a lot of stories about people open carrying getting hassled about it.
You are not required to have a CCW to open carry in Utah. Any one in utah 18 or older can open carry in Utah, but the law requires that the gun be two actions away from firing. If you have a CCW you may open carry with a loaded gun.
Just a little side note.As of 5/13/2009 anyone who is 18 or older may now have a concealed weapon in their car with out a CCW.
