You actually believe you can OC in the Peoples Republic of Illinois? If so, you have a nice jail cell awaiting you.
My wife is from IL and when we go there, my firearm has to be unloaded and out of sight for the duration of the visit there. Not a gun friendly state, at all. Rivals New Jersey in restriction.

Illinois is not an open carry state and is the only state besides Wisconsin that does not have a conncealed carry statute. Your carry permit, License or Endorsement from your state or any other will not be honored in what I now refer to as the Republic of Illinois.Quote:

The weapons are to be transported in a separate compartment from the driver. This usually means the trunk of a car. Legal issues can happen in cases where one is driving an SUV or a Van where there is no trunk.

My understanding is that open carry is not illegal in unincorporated areas of Illinois; the state has no law against it. If you're in a city (or other incorporated area), you have to know the laws there. It's a patchwork arrangement. Most Illinois police are not used to seeing anybody open carry, so expect to be hasseled / arressted if you try it. Concealed carry is definitely illegal statewide.
I was born in Illinois and am ashamed of what it has become. I made a trip back several months ago and carried in Texas, OK, and MO. I had to unload and store before going into Ill. What a bunch of $##@#.
