    Question: open carry in NV

I have read handgunlaw.us and am still a bit confused (see sig).

If I am traveling to NV (Clark County), I understand that I may not carry concealed there without a NV CCL, but can I open carry there? I do understand there are places where it is illegal, like airports, anywhere there is a metal detector, etc.

Technically, yes, you can open carry here...personally I recommend against it.

But if you must do NOT OC:
-On the strip/in any casino/downtown LV (Fremont St)
-In a bar (not sure you can OC where alcohol is served)
-On any state/federal property (airport as you mentioned)
-In the city of North Las Vegas (it is illegal there, although state law permits it)

If you're not on the strip then you'll probably be OK, but I've only seen one person in my 6 years here OC'ing...so you're gonna stick out...

Other locals want to chime in here? I'm not that familiar w/OC law here but am sure you'll have a very bad day if you try to OC in the places mentioned above.

Thanks. I'm not interested in carrying, but not wanting to leave firearm in car at valet parking either. I'll just be driving through LV to Mesquite, which I believe is also in Clark County.

Clark county requires that handguns be registered/licensed with them to open carry, or so I'm told. I live in northern Nevada, however (Reno area), and Las Vegas is 500 miles away by road and *much* farther by mind/imagination. ;-)

No, they don't. Clark County registration is for residents only, and there is a 60 day grace period after establishing residency in Clark County for registering handguns. The registration is NOT required to carry in Clark County.

    Check out opencarry.org, Nevada section.

Thanks, NavyLT. I guess I'm okay, then. I thought that was 60 days after becoming a Nevada resident; guess it isn't. :-)
