Open carried to dinner Tuesday night July 14th.
As some of you know, the new Restaurant carry bill becae law Tuesady July 14 here in Tennessee.
So, to commemorate this occasion my family as I went out to dinner at a restaurant in our small town. A restaurant that we previously could not carry at because they serve alcohol.
My wife carried concealed and I carried openly. Both of us were carrying our XD's, she her XD .40 sub compact and I, my XD .40 service, two tone model. Bother were carried in Blackhawk SERPA holsters.
The restaurant did not ask us to leave, it was not posted and we got no bad comments or looks. I got a thumbs up and a discrete point to my gun by a fellow who was also open carrying. He had a Sig on his hip in a nice leather holster. And I got an approving nod and smile from a Shelby County Sheriffs Deputy who I believe was on his dinner break as he was in uniform and when he left, he got into a patrol car and drove off.
It was a great experience and it was very nice to be able to go to a nice place to eat and still be able to protect my family.
Now if I could only take my kids to a park and still be able to protect them.

Nice, glad it worked out for you. Funny how some of the laws are written as to where you can and can't carry.
Never argue with idiots - they'll drag you down to their level then beat you with experience.

Awesome, awesome, AWESOME! I'd love to see NC follow TN's lead. Glad you had such a lovely celebratory dinner, Mike! :)

Sweet!
I guess now, I can open up some plans to come back north of the border to have some dinner. I just don't want to waste a trip to one of my favorite barbeque places only to find a sign or some rent-a-cop telling me I can't carry in there.

Congrats to the legislators with common sense in TN.
"That I cannot do."
"Give this to, uh, Clemenza. I want reliable people, people who aren't going to be carried away. After all we're not murderers in spite of what this undertaker thinks."

I'm jealous, yet happy for you. I wish Alabama would do some more pro-2nd movements.

Chopper Bob, let me know where you want to go eat and I will cruise by and see if the place(s) are posted for you.

You should have invited that jerk that wrote the story of mayhem that would result from the new law, from the station to join you.

Excellent! I'm glad to see folks immediately taking advantage of the change in the law. I think you are setting a great example and helping to educate the public.
