This is a discussion on Was asked to leave a Cinemark theater within the Open Carry Issues & Discussions forums, part of the Defensive Carry Discussions category; Might need to re-proof read your proof read. It looks better, but the most important mistake was typing, "I will not support business that do ...
Thanks everyone for your kind support. I feel if we don't start educating the masses out there that we still have rights in this country, we will lose them. Also we need to continue to be respectful of the rights of other people and businesses by abiding by their rules and take our funds elsewhere that support our 2nd Amendment right. This is the 3rd negative incident I've encountered while open carrying, and it probably won't be the last.
I still carry concealed most of the time simply because it is too darn cold to open carry! The summer season on the other hand I tend to OC a bit more depending on where I'm going and who I'm with.

Too bad there's not one of their theatres near me... but I do go too Myrtle Beach and they have one there... and I'll make sure to avoid it until they change their policy.
Here's what I sent them:
It is with some disappointment that I must inform you that many law abiding citizens including myself and my family will no longer be patronizing your theatres. The reason we are deciding not to spend our hard earned money in your theatres stems from your lack of support for the Second Amendment of the US Constitution.
The catalyst for this decision originated from your theatre located in Anchorage Alaska and concerns the refusal to allow entry of two persons legally carrying handguns in accordance with Alaska state law.
The particulars of the refusal are as follows: two law abiding individuals were both carrying legally obtained handguns that were properly holstered on their belts. Like many good, honest, law-abiding citizens they felt it is their right to protect themselves wherever they go, because violent crimes take place anytime and anywhere. They know the laws of the state in which they reside and both have the professional firearms training and licenses required to carry. The state of Alaska also allows anyone 21 years of age or older to carry firearms, given they have no criminal history and are not under the influence of any drugs and/or alcohol. Open carry is also legal in Alaska.
They were approached by two managers, a male and female. The male manager informed them that they could not have firearms in the theater and they needed to leave them in their vehicle. One of them asked the manager "when did the policy change, because I have carried at this location many times before with no issues?" The manager was unable to provide an answer, and they were escorted to the ticket counter where the firearms policy was displayed on a cardboard sign. They requested a full refund and went one of your competitors, a Regal Cinemas theater, to view the film without issue.
This issue has been posted on the internet and many others that choose to exercise their rights to lawfully carry handguns in accordance with the laws of their state are choosing to avoid your theatres until your policy changes. It is your choice and right to disallow lawful carrying of handgun on your properties, but with attendance figures dropping nationwide due to increased competition from: satellite television, the internet, Netflix, and people's attitude of "waiting for it to come to cable"; can you afford to intentionally alienate a growing population of law abiding citizens?
While this incident occurred in Alaska, I have heard about it in South Carolina. Until I hear that your policy changes, I will not patronize your theatres.
anyone have any responses back yet?

Nope. Probably pushed it to the side for "later" and forgot about it.
