DAng it. Hit the wrong button. Not enough coffee.

Please subtract one vote from "I think you should HAVE to have a permit" (which, when one hasn't had a full cup yet, looked a lot like "I DON'T think you should HAVE to have a permit")...

And add one vote to "NO".

I didn't vote as there didn't seem to be a choice which reflected my view.

Open carry should not be subject to a permit process PERIOD.

Actually, in my opinion concealed carry shouldn't be subject to a permit either but I've been forced by necessity to grudgingly play that game.

    Education

No permits for OC or CC!!

However, I do believe that if one chooses to carry a firearm, they should educate themselves and practice the craft... But that's just basic responsibility to me...

    Maybe this warrants another thread

First let me apologize if my post came across as disparaging or attack you in any way. That was not the intent. My intent is to attack the position not the individual. I do hope that those that support gun control measures take a serious look at their thinking and the consequences of what they are doing. As you have said you are doing, reevaluating your position. That is good IMO. I don't think that considering any gun control measure makes anyone anti 2A. Obviously 2A like any of our rights are not absolute. They carry a degree of personal responsibility and some minimal restrictions are valid. Such as convicted felons in prison should not be allowed to have guns. We should as responsible citizens consider review, research, any proposal that could make our society better. Than make intelligent, informed, fact based decisions. So that you consider registration or any other gun control measure in and of it self does not make you anti 2A.

It is my hope that after some consideration and research that you realize that registration does give the government undo power over its citizens, needlessly infringing upon our rights without any benefit to society as a whole. If you like I would like to discuss the pros and cons of registration, maybe another thread or PM. We should be able to do that without making it too personal.

I'm torn- the rebel patriot in me says; "NO permit should be needed."

But, the sensible and wise side of me says; "I don't think everyone should be able to carry." (IMHO; Some people are just to STUPID to be trusted with a firearm.)

However; I fully believe that IF a person can get a "permit" for conceal carry, that person should be able to carry ANYWHERE and ANYWAY they choose!

    OC . . . . (my 2 cents)

The constitution didn't say you MUST buy a permit to exercise your Constitutional right to bear arms. Lawyers and politicians have figured out a growing revenue stream and they're sticking to it!
Now, as soon as they figure out how to tax Marijuana and keep the cartels out and public from growing their own . . . . . .
Personally Open Carry does not interest me, I don't feel the need to broadcast I'm armed and prefer the element of surprise against the BG.

I support no permit for either open or concealed carry. Keep the government out of it or it will be impossible to afford or achieve.

If I could figure that out to everyones satisfaction, I'd be rich and probably run for office.

The way I look at it is the "Constitution" is the BAR! So in a PERFECT world NO permit should be required. (BUT! We don't live in a perfect world.)

I think if you commit a "crime"; you should do the time!

Speaking of crime & time; If you commit a crime and then you are found safe to re-enter society, you should have your "right" to carry re-instated.

The same holds true for the "Constitutional" Right to Carry, if you do something STUPID and endanger me or my family, OR if you violate my civil rights, YOU should be stripped of your "right" to carry. Otherwise "right to carry" should be "RIGHT" to Carry! (Again; the constitution should be the BAR!)
