Question How often do you clean a Glock?

Is it necessary to clean it after every trip to the range? After 25 rounds? 50? 100? I have to admit it's my least favorite part of shooting Ok, it's the only part I don't like LOL. I've been doing it after every shooting session be it 25 rounds or 100. I have a feeling that's more than what's needed though.

I clean my guns after shooting them or after carrying them for around two weeks.

After every time I shoot 'em! (Well, that's what I tell people! )

My G17 Gen 1 sat uncleaned in storage for 13 years, took it out and fired it along with 13 year old ammo, worked just fine.

You probably COULD wait a while but if it's a gun you may potentially use to defend yourself with someday I'd want to do what I can to make sure it runs flawlessly should that time come. That's why I clean my guns after every range trip. Completely agree with you, though. I hate cleaning my guns. lol

I don't own a Glock or ever intend to. But I've always wondered about this very question.....

Same as every other gun I shoot. Every time I shoot it.

I'm sure a Glock (or any quality pistol) could go 1000+ rounds without a cleaning, but I wont bet my life on it

I clean mine close to every 500 rounds or so, I don't think I even need to do it that often.

I really enjoy cleaning my guns.......but I find that my Glock range guns actually work better if I don't clean them after every range trip. And no, I cannot offer any explanation at all.

I clean mine after every time I shoot it. Aside from just being clean and oiled it also helps with the powder burn residue around the slide, magazine, chamber, ect. area so it doesn't get your hands or clothes dirty while you're carrying.

You can buy a reliable car but that doesn't mean you should not change your oil or other regular maintenance. Take care of it right and it'll be that much better and last longer.

I clean after every trip to the range. I enjoy it.

But to be the devil's advocate, let me offer this argument: the best function check is actually putting a couple dozen rounds through the weapon. You know it works, and consistently so. If you disassemble it, clean the slide assembly, trigger group, barrel, etc...and then reassemble it, do you know it works? You know it's factory clean, but does it actually work? Did you mess something up?

Would you know more if you took a clean weapon and then put 25 rounds through it and left it dirty? ...until after then next trip to the range.

Probably, but I clean after ever use.

Compsred to you all, I am a very dirty bird.

It's funny to compare this thread with the threads about torture testing pistols.
