Here on vaction in Florida and stopped at the Bass pro.
I found some really nice new stomping in the woods boots, I have been wanting some for that purpose and/or SHTF survival boots.
RedHead 8'' Side-Zip Insulated Waterproof Hunting Boots for Men
here is link could not find a good pic to post...
by the way the were on sale for $84.95 org $129.95 so a good deal.
What do you guys have/use?
Converse duty boots.
Good selection at LA Police Gear. Best I've ever had and I've tried all the big names.
I wore Original SWAT boots for 3 years. Good boots but the model I had is discontinued. I tried a pair of 5.11's ATAC but am not impressed.
I like the 5.11 8" Side Zip.
I just recently bought a pair of 5.11 "ATAC Storm" (also with the side zip) also a great boot but, the waterproof membrane behind the side zipper makes them a bit more difficult to get on.
I love the "side zip" feature & I'll never buy another pair of boots unless they feature the side zipper.
Has anybody tried a pair of the new Blackhawk Tanto Light hikers yet?
Side zip is the way to go , no doubt. Glad you have better luck with your 5.11 boots. I am starting to experience sharp edges inside the boot which I have found others complaining of as well.
I will not buy anything besides Danner for "serious" boots. The USA made ones. I own three pair. Never been disappointed at all. Explorer, Recon, and abrown pair of hunting boots with a bob sole that I cannot remeber the model name of right now. Absoultely the best around.
I am a big fan of the 5.11 ATAC 8". They are $99 and the super comfortable. Only downside is with hard use I only get a year out of them but the comfort makes it worth it.
I have yet to try them out, but the side zip on the new red heads seems like a cool feature that I really liked.
I like these as a good all around daily wear boot. I can wear them at work with Khaki's or cargo's or put them on and kick around the yard/woods. If they get dirty, I just give them a hose down and go.
Timberland Men's Plymouth Trail Mid Hiker
The price is MSRP. I pay around $75.00 on sale.
Danner are the best!

I just got a pair of these. By far the most comfortable boots I've worn in a long time.
TR303 - KIOWA
I just got a chance this afternoon to go test these guys out. Me and a old friend of mine went out onto some of his familys land and trecked through some thing brush and creek/river.
I was worried at first about stepping into the water and having soggy feet all day, but eventualy I gained faith and was able to just stand in the water with no problem.
Traction was fantastic with these boots and mud cleaned itself out easily, one time I did find a hole in the creek and water ran into the boots as me foot was submerged! But only because of that.
They were extremely comfortable and did not make my feet hot a sweaty like I thought. After about an hour of hard hiking and just stomping around we headed back to the truck, hosed them off and were good to go.
If you have the opportunity to get your hands of a pair of these do it!
Them thar' boots are great for the cold weather, but need to be a bit higher on the leg for the 'rattlers' here in FL...:image035:
