Do you have any specifics on the brand?

I'm supposing that they were LED?

What kind of batteries do they run on?

Just my experience, but if you pay $14 for a flashlight...you'll have just that, a $14 flashlight...I'm just sayin'...

I've gone the cheap route several times and have always come back to SureFire.

+1 on more info or a link to their website if you can find it there.

Lumen ratings are about 50/50 as to being read in an inflated manner, it's kind of like factory dyno readings on cars being on the high and sometimes conveniently numbered side of things.

You can find them at Sam's Club.

They are called "Element", they run on 3 AAA batteries and are machined Aluminum. I bought a pair at $25, and they work great. I was real tempted to buy another set at 14 bucks

At 150 Lumen, they are inexpensive and rugged

I've got a pair of them I bought a while back. They've been great. Brightest lights I've ever had. I paid more than $14, but still thought it was a good light for the money.

I boought them a few months ago when there was the original post.
    I paid $30 for 2
$14 for two is a bargain
These are not high end lights but are nice with 3 settings high.low and strobe.
The strobe isnt the fastest but is disorienting.
Anyway well worth the price now.IMO

I respectfuly disagree now while I love my surefires and phoenix lights. I picked up a Rayovac LED outdoor light that has been with me everywhere its aluminum and looks Tacticool. I've used and abused it and it holds up just fine and the final selling price was.... 10 dollars. So that is not always the case.

Same here, although there are a few other brands I like as well. I do keep some chinese lights in the vehicles & my tool box at work. If they disappear, I'm not out much. One thing I noticed is that the claimed lumens tend to be inflated a bit when compared side by side against better lights with much lower ratings.
