5.11s included. The only people who even notice I'm even wearing a vest don't associate it guns, they ask me: 'Are you going fishing?' OR 'Do you take pictures?'
As far the 'shoot me 1st' look, NOBODY notices & I'm very alert to what goes on around me & have been carrying for over 15 years.
I have a black one and was wearing it in a McDonald's in Oak Brook, IL. A little girl in the booth next to mine asked me "are you police?" as I got up to leave. Must have been the navy blue button down shirt underneath and my regulation haircut...
The look on her dad's face was priceless.
I LOVE 511 Pants & their shorts. All Cotton & extremely high quality...even though NOT Made in the USA.
The Columbia Sports Omni-Dry Venture Vest (and everything else) is 25% off at NorwaySports.com. I just got one for $37.46 + shipping. You have to enter DADGRAD in the coupon code at checkout.
I have several of the Smith & Alexander vests. They are much lighter than the 511 vests but only have two pockets so if you like to carry a lot of stuff, you might prefer the 511.
I posted this comment on another site but as far as the vest 'screaming gun', I think it does to US because we use these vests to conceal guns.
To others is means something different. When I was applying for my PA non-res permit, I needed a passport size photo. I went to a camera shop and while I was there, I noticed a bunch of people (6 I think) wearing these kind a vests. I thought, 'cool, a bunch of armed citizens'.
Then after remembering where I was, I realized that in the camera shop, the vests 'screamed photographer'.
We are all programed by our experiences.
I'm planning to get a 511 to add to my wardrobe.
Thanks for the tip. After reading this thread, I have given up on the 5.11 and ordered the vest from your source. I love saving money!:yup:Quote:

How large a firearm will the Napoleon pockets on the Woolrich hold? And does there have to be a holster inside the pocket to hold one?
I'm looking at something to hold a Sig p229 .40 cal.
It holds my Sig 228, but IMHO that is too big of a firearm to put in a pocket like this. The inner pocket would be more suitable, but I couldn't tell you that you need a holster for it. I can tell you a Sig 228 9mm does easily fit in the inner pockets.Quote:

If you or anyone else on CC.com are interested in the Woolrich Elite Series, please PM or Email me at orders@rogueelite.net I'm presently doing some footwork for Woolrich and selling the Elite Series at training and instruction classes. And I will give a discount to CC.com members for items that I do have in stock.
When wearing my 5.11 vest, I always get asked, "goin' fishing"?
I actually fish a lot, fly fishing, spinning, ice. :)
If we're talkin’ price, pass this one by. But I settled on it because it didn’t look like a tactical vest.

This vest is very cool in the summer and covers an IWB or OWB holster perfectly.

I use the promaster photo vest. It's well made and doesn't look tactical at all.
The majority of the sheeple in the world have no idea that CCWers use them as cover. The BG's just think you're a Yuppie or something. It's only the CCW community that thinks these vests cry out that I'm armed. The same with the Hawaiian shirts and fanny packs. The LEOs may know but I'm not concerned with that.
I'll use the vest or my Hawaiian shirts or a fanny pack. The world is truly clueless why I dress like I do.

That's what I use. It doesn't look as tactical as the 511 vest and I think it is better for IDPA than the 511.Quote:
I bought my vest from Cabela's. It is called a Safari vest. It is great and has plenty of pockets of all sizes. $49.95
