nice cheap edc light FOUND!
So, I've been hunting for a light that I can pocket carry, that has a good reliable switch, a pocket clip and is suitably bright that comes in under $20 for a long time.
Well, I've found it.
1W 1AA light by Energizer. $15.94 from Target. Lifetime guarantee XR-C LED pocket clip (that i reversed to carry button up) and I love it.

lots of reviews and info here

Looks handy. I bought a 2 pack of 150 lumen LED lights at Sam's made by Element for $35 a while back. Worked good for a while, but now it momentarily cuts off and back on. I need something else. Might give this a look.

Can't find any details. Lumens, length, weight. The Energizer web site has no mention of it.

I had it's 2AA big brother, 3W @72 lumens. I think the 1W light is 27 lumens. Nice beam & color, easy to hold. Unregulated, but OK run time. BTW, they work great with NiMH rechargable batteries. Very servicable light you've got. Enjoy!

I dont think this is quite the same, those ran the older luxeon III LEDs this runs the much more efficient XR-C LED. I've heard 45 lumens thrown around. Also from what I've been reading its supposed to be regulated as it cuts off once the voltage gets too low.

I've tried lots of 'nice' lights, and I've always come back to SureFire.OMO

My only issue with spending bank on a light is that if I dont destroy it, I will eventually lose it. I will cry much less about losing a $15 light, than a $100 light.
if you're better about it than me outstanding. I just have this tendancy to destroy things no matter what i spend on them

I have a 30 dollar dorcy tac light with a similar led setup (cre123). I love it, but its just a bit big for carry. I may have to pick one of these up and at the very least it will be a good glove compartment light.

- I have a 4Sevens Preon 1 and it's my favorite EDC flashlight. It's the same thickness as a Bic pen and less than half the length.

Booyah,
I have that exact same light. And I was equally jazzed when I saw it in the package. Then I took it out... It's a great light but it most certainly cannot be carried as an EDC (for me at least). The tailcap does not unscrew enough to disable the light activation. With most lights, just a 1/4 turn or so prevents the light from activating.
The on/off button on this thing is SO freaking sensitive that you barely have to touch it to activate the light. Not turn it ON mind you, but momentary ON. Well, you can imagine how the slightest graze from just being in your pocket will turn this thing on/off throughout the day.
I was VERY disappointed with this light as it is otherwise very well built. Unfortunately, it is relagated to riding in my overhead console in my truck.
Not to be a flashlight snob (and I realize not everyone can afford it), but there's a reason my Surefire's cost $130+
