I can't speak for the utility of it - yet, but it's kind of an interesting light(s). You know I'll have to order this, it's only $40, but if I order a Brite Strike tactical handheld, I get light balls free, oops - 'the' light balls free - there's just no good way to say that is there?.

Just too a look and don't see what the practical utility of these would be. You could throw them to put light on an area, but the device looks like the light doesn't get emitted in a 360, so the ball could land with the light pointed somewhere other than where you want it.

Light not pointing where you want? I think that is the idea, to distract the BG so you can escape a sticky situation. It would also work to make him think there is more than one person in the room.

Yah, I believe the purpose is misdirection, not illumination. My tactical bag is full, but I think that security guards might be into something like this?

I have a set and they fit in with parts of my HD plan. The batteries keep them pointing up because of the weight, although they will get stuck in deep carpet. I tested them on my hardwood floors and they always roll light side up.

I just wish they strobed and were a bit brighter.

Hmm kind of like a flash bang without the bang. Not a bad idea for a distraction device.

Paint 'em black and call them tactical.

Anyway, I can see the usefulness and understand where and why the idea was born. They do have a very narrow scope of use though.

But don't they have to be made of "aircraft grade" aluminum and painted black to be called tactical?
I havenít heard any of the journalists who volunteered to be waterboarded asking to have their fingernails wrenched out with pliers, or electrodes attached to their genitals.

I think they'd be great for simulating UFOs and freaking people out.

Not saying there never would be a situation where these might come in handy but I'll be darned if I can think up one.
