I don't know if the 3 LED's in blue of the Surefire A-2 are sufficient to spot blood trails, but I have sold a Bear Cub (Modified Mag-lite 2 C rechargeable outputting 220 lumens) with a blue filter to an avid bowhunter friend of mine, and it say that it works like a charm.
(The blue filter comes together with a red and clear in a rubber holder kit that goes over the head.
Same light can be used with the red filter to do some close shooting at varmints (coyotes where I hunt in upstate N.Y.)
The 'yotes don't see red light and approach very close to a wounded rabbit's call.
