    1911 Magazine Compatability

I have been thinking about asking this and never seem to remember to do so... I am oly familiar with full siz 1911's: Are the regular 7 or 8 round mags compatible with the Micro size 1911's and Officers grips? Am I combining two separate things erroneously? Obviously they would sitck out at the bottom but do they fit and function?

they will 'fit' as in--they will lock in place
    and they will function

and as you noted, they will stick out about 1/2" from the heel.

10 rounders will work and stick out further.

You never hear this mentioned in the "mag compatability" department, guesss I have never had a direct answer that a 1911 mag is a 1911 mag as far as fitting in (not accoutning for the bottom or which feed certain guns better, that is another issue).

cmb--the notch cut into the front of the mag on the right side, down by the 4th witness hole---
that is in the same location for 7 commander and defender, 7 or 8 full size and 10 round mags.
thus all larger will fit in the smaller.
that mag hold slot is on the side opposite the slide stop cut.

Yup. I picked up another 7 rounder for my officer sized 1911 the other day. The original factory mag was 7 rounds, but had a nice bumper on the bottom, making it a little nicer for EDC, so I just carry the new one as a spare. I plan on getting one of THESE for hunting, and one of THESE for S&G's. So yes, ANY 1911 magazine will work in ANY 1911.

I bet that 40 round drum is HEAVY hanging off the bottom of the gun. Looks like fun though.
