This is kinda cool - that kit is very much like the one I put together. I use oven roasting bags for boiling water - they're fine as long as you don't put them in the fire.
thanks for the info on the space blanket. Check out the super shelter - sounds a lot like what you do, but extends the plastic out in front of the shelter btwn the shelter and fire. Might be a better option when the wind and rain really kick up.
