Not all handguns use mags, both of my Bolo Mausers use clips to charge the internal magazine.

Was that what they had in the movie "Joe Kidd"? (old Clint Eastwood western) Looks like the same pistol, but in the movie, it had a little stock attached to it.

Same gun, it has been used in a multitude of movies.

The difference isn't the type of weapon it goes into, the difference is the function.

A removable box magazine can be for a rifle, pistol, or shotgun even.

A M-1 Garand takes a clip, a 1911 takes a magazine. A Masuer 98k can be loaded from a clip, but not an external magazine. An Enfield was capable of being loaded by either detachable box magazine, or stripper clips.

A M-4 takes a magazine. Get the difference yet?

OP, yes some people call magazines, clips. Years ago I actually used to be guilty of it myself. I think it's because "clip" just sounds cooler and it's easier to say. If someone in conversation calls a magazine a clip, I would politely educate them and let them know that it's a magazine. That's one more person you've educated on the subject and one less person that will annoy you.

Although, I wouldn't recommend correcting or making it a big deal on someone else's thread if it's unrelated. Something like that would tend to derail a thread and that wouldn't be fair to the OP. Use caution.
