    Question about magazine maintenance ...

So I picked up a sig p238 (I love it !!!) and my question is if you carry the gun loaded at all times is there a rule of thumb about how often you should replace the magazine spring? Thanks

Having a loaded mag won't wear out the spring. When your mag gets dirty, take it apart, clean it and look at the spring. I've only come across a mag spring that was bent once. I replaced it and it was fixed. It wasn't dirty, just the last round was failing to feed. That's how I knew there was something wrong with it. So I say run them until they start to act up and then replace the spring

Dsully is spot on. The only thing to add is if you off load all your ammo make sure to mix it up so that the same round is not chambered each time. The rim on the case can become damaged.

Adding to Bill's comment, an even greater concern is the bullet getting pushed back in the case after numerous chamberings.

I would advise against any lubrication since the oil can trap dirt.

A dry teflon spray won't harm anything if you feel you need to lube a mag. A light spray will do the trick. Wet stuff is asking for problems.

To help in keeping the economy moving please replace all springs once a year, needed or not. :) Always insist on "Made in America" and "Union free".

And don't forget to change all the light bulbs in your house every six months. GE needs the sales.
