Anyone know if this safe is any good? I'm getting ready to buy my first gun and I'll need a safe. It kinda makes me feel good that this one is made by a gun company. Is this false confidence?

I have two and they'll work fine to keep out kids and such but any determined thief with the right tools will get into it.

Mine is for keeping nephews away from my guns so they fit my needs.

The pistol safe is not manufactured by Winchester but by Granite Security Products, Inc. in Fort Worth TX

Thanks for all the responses. Keeping kids away from my gun is going to be the primary purpose of the safe. During the day the gun is going to be on my side and at night in the safe which will be by my head. I don't think someone could sneak in and get it without me knowing. But then again it could happen, and I'd feel pretty guilty if someone stole my gun. Anyone know of a more secure safe, that I could eventually store two or three handguns and several magazines in, and costs around $100?

Based on my previous experience with Winchester safes, I would recommend them. When I was shopping for a large gun safe, I found their products to be both good quality and an excellent value compared to their competitors. There customer service was fantastic as well and exceeded my expectations. When I had to order a replacement shelf after I damaged it while setting it up, they sent me out a new part at no cost and next day shipping. Hard to find that kind of service these days.

How good and fast are you at opening a safe at night under extreme stress if someone kicks in your door?

I have a Winchester safe that I picked up from Costco for $299. I love it! The thing is a tank...

I don't know, I never tried it. But I will be practicing once I get whatever safe I get.
