I bought mine at LA Police Gear as they were on sale before Christmas. Not sure what they are running now but those were under 30 dollars.

Pretty much all of the Maxpedition & VooDoo etc are reviewed on YouTube. I'd go to YouTube and watch some VIDS so that you can see what might work out best for you.
The LAPG bag is great bag for the money.

I've tried the LAPGs and you cannot beat those prices but, they're a bit less comfortable humping them for extended lengths of time.
But, also keep in mind that I'm lugging more actual weight than most folks would since my Wife cannot handle very much at all.
The LAPG stuff might work out for you though.

Right now I'm using the Maxpedition 514B VULTURE II and I paid $127 with Free Shipping for that one on Ebay.
That might be a bit more bag than you want though.
Here is a Part One Vid review of the one that I am presently using. You can find Part 2 on your own.
NO...that is not ME in the video but, it's a decent and honest review.

Had mine cutom made in Bogota colombia in a sweat shop.
+1 on the soc sandpiper. Got one as a bug out bag and couldn't be happier. Seems like $60 was all I payed and I love it! It is real well built. I have never had experience with lapg bags although alllll the other things I have bought from them are great!
Think about picking up one or two of these GEAR KEEPERS ~ I'm using one of the micro retractables for a small GERBER (single Lithium AAA battery) flashlight which provides hours upon hours of just enough light to see where I putting my feet at night without lighting up the Solar System and attracting a lot of attention.
I have one of my magnesium/ferrocerium rod firestarters on another one. An item that I never want to lose.
They are the greatest little inventions.
