That was my thinking as well. But my first hand experience shows that by the end of day #3 my peanut lighter is dry and won't light. Day #1 is great. Day #2 is OK.

So, if you are willing to refill it daily as part of your routine, it works great.

I switched over to carrying a mini-Bic in my EDC kit. Super inexpensive, readily available, weighs effectively nothing, and works for months if not years without drying out.

I wonder if maybe its leaking from the grommet in the top?

Close it up and put another lighter to it to check.

If so, a little dab of silicone ought to do the trick.

Dunno. Heck of a good idea. I'll check.

got one on order the SS model 8 bucks shipped. Will let you know if it works or not. Looks like it could be a good addtion to my bug out pack, if it will light after three days.

I have the peanut lighter and the (mini) split-pea lighter. Both of mine has lasted 2 or 3 months before drying out.

I'm thinking maybe I'm one of the lucky ones? Or you're one of the un-lucky ones.

The Brit Military ProForce TurboFlame is a great jet flame butane lighter that is always at the ready and does not leak butane and "go empty" on you.

Buy a plastic bic... no rust, no worries... no refill required...

Last thing I want is lighter fluid running in my pocket...
