Support equipment in vehicle
Have you ever thought about what you don\'t carry? I have quite a selection of equipment that lives in my Jeep that I take with me where ever I go.
Mossburg Riot gun:
extra Box of 00 buck
100 rounds of 9mm ball
spare loaded mags for my carry gun
couple of speed strips of 38 specials for my J Frame
First aid kit
towels
water
couple of spare knives
tool kit
I\'m real comfortable with my pistol skills but if figure a 12 Gauge and 150 rounds of spare ammo can\'t hurt.
What do you all keep in your car?
Mike

Hi Mike, we in CA are somewhat restricted what we can carry in our car. As an example we cannot carry a baseball bat, it is against the law and any LEO will tell you if you have one in your car you had better be going to a baseball game. Handguns must be locked in a case and locked in the trunk with ammo seperated from them. We have pretty much a one party system in CA and gun laws are churned out without much need or reason.

I carry my ASP baton in the door pocket, an LED flashlight (small flood, not spot) and pepper spray in my console. If they had better hiding spots in a Grand Cherokee I would probably carry more.

Besides the usual jumper cables, jack and vehicle stuff...
I have a complete bugout bag stuffed behind the bench seat of my tiny Sonoma. In it includes ammo, medical, foodstuffs, illumination, Ka-Bar, poncho, etc..
As soon as my SU-16 has proven reliable, I\'ll be replacing that Mosin for it. The SU-16 is lighter, more compact, shoots more and faster, and has it\'s own case.

I also have a QuikClot trauma kit with CinchTight bandages.
I also have this handy entrenching tool:

Clicking here will let you see the rest of the images of the e-tool in it\'s various positions.

Yeah Mike, I have thought about it and voiced it many times. May take incoming on this but...Arizona is to hot every time I go there I get sick from the sand or whatever. I think northern Ariz would be good. Nevada is my next choice but family won\'t go. It is important to be prepared as many readers are both for short term and longer term issues. Currently the car I drive gets comments like, are you here for the body shop sir?? So with about 185,000 miles on it maybe I need something else to get to the desert in case something happens. I really admire the planning some folks take for when the SHTF!!!!

You won\'t take any flack from me on that, it IS hotter than the flames of hell here in summer. You really do get used to it after awhile and start doing really goofy things like wearing jackets when it gets cold, say about 65 degrees.

I carry my Led flashlight, My CCW 1911 in the center console. 3 extra mags behind the seat, and my backup gun in my backpack. the only problem I have is every time I take my truck in for service I scare the hell out of my service advisor unloading guns and ammo. :)

My firearms go in and out of the vehicle with me. So I carry mostly emergency stuff and tools. Nothing really in the way of firearms or ammo left in the vehicle. I do leave ear plugs and or muffs in the vehicles. Since I\'m responsible for two active firing ranges I need to be able to stop in and check on things at any time.

Betty,
I have that same entrenching tool. I absolutely love it. I use it more often than not too.
Besides that I keep a Bug Out Bag with all the essentials. I work out in the country as a real-estate appraiser for the local county. I gernally end up in very rural areas.

Don\'t really have a lot of stuff in the car, but I\'m thinking hard about getting a 33 round mag for my HK and putting in my map pocket....just in case.
I\'d also like to get a decent firstaid kit, a gunshot trauma bag, another spare light, and a shovel (I did manage to get my beloved Focus stuck awhile back.....dug it out with the tire iron)
Looking at what many of you have, I\'m WOEFULLY unprepared.

Just mainly emergency/recovery straps...whats on me defensive wise is whats in the vehicle til I get out. I would sure hate to lose the stuff some of you have in your vehicles.
Auto theft and break ins are really pretty high here....I dont keep anything Im not willing to part with in the truck or Xterra. Id LOVE to carry some of that stuff..but....
