Great Brass Catcher

So, after an exhaustive search for a brass catcher that was not only pragmatic, but was within a decent budget, I decided to make my own.
Let me know what you think. Total bill was about $50, and it's far more useful than any of the ones I found online. Plus, it only took maybe 45 min to make.
Love the fact I can rotate the neck any direction so it doesn't matter what angle your brass is ejecting, even if it's a flub ejection because you're firing light loads.Brass Catcher.jpg

Dear pscoio03: this is just what I needed by way of inspiration! We have a pasture that is aching to be used as a range, but my dear Farm Manager doesn't want brass around for the cows to eat. Thanks for the idea - lots! (I took the liberty of fiddling with the photo for clarity: hope that's OK.)

I got the net from Gander ($19) and the camera stand on sale at Best Buy is a SunPak 6000PG ($32).
It has a pistol grip and rotates in all directions, so you can scootch it up next to you when you're in a stall, or angle it sideways if you're at a table with the long gun.

For handguns I use an aquarium net bent so that as I hold the gun its in the brass stream. It holds 10 45s, 15 9mms, etc... you can also make one from a wire coat hanger and one of your wife's stockings. DR

Currently we spread a tarp out, but even that is not perfect.

An easy, cheap way?

Get a laundry bag from the nearest Dollar General... Mesh bag, usually white in color in white mesh just like your black mesh.

$3.00

4' length of 3/8 pex tubing at Hdw. store/big box. 2X4 scrap with 1/2" holes

thread the pex in the already sewn hem of the bag, you will end up with a circular opening. insert the ends of the pex into the 1/2" holes of the 2x4 block.

Mount it on anything you want... a piece of pipe, a $30 tripod... whatever. Holds hundreds of rounds.

I've seen this used to collect brass. It was very efficient on concrete-paved firing lines. No setting up required.

I didn't think it'd work so well on gravel, without picking up quite a bit of gravel too... video shows different... but I like my $10 solution over a $50 gizmo
