    Quality, Inexpensive Ear Protection?

Went to the range yesterday with my $20 Headset, stretched it just a bit because it had my head in a vice, and the darned thing snapped right in two!

    Suggestions?

Probably one of the most popular headsets right now... I love mine.

The Howard Leight QB2HYG-1 Quiet Band works great and is $6 on Amazon.

I hate earmuffs..... For most uses I like silicone earplugs. Can be had for a few dollar a pair, or you can buy fancy ones .

Very comfy and really block sound well, I also use them for concerts as I work security during the summer

The Howard Leights are nice I like mine. They're nice because they amplify conversation and range commands so you don't have to yell at each other at the range, you can simply talk normal and then they block out the louder harmful sounds. I also like the low profile ear cup design which allows for a good cheek weld when shooting rifles and shotguns. And they fold up real compact for storing them in a range bag.

    Sorry, couldn't resist!

You did say quality and inexpensive right?

We just use any old pair of regular muffs, cheap ones, from the ones I bought 25 years ago($10) to the ones most recently($15-25) and they work fine, and haven't come undone.
