    SKS stock upgrade

    Hi All
My old sks stock cracked, so I thought I would go with a Tapco blade cut stock and I found some on gunbroker for the spike bayonet but mine is the blade bayonet . Has anyone installed a blade type in a spike type stock will this matter? seems to be a shortage of these stocks who knew !!

Can't help you on whether it will matter, but I have an SKS with a beautiful stock, and from the time I got it, I pulled the spike off of it, as I saw it as needless for my use of the weapon as a spare rifle up in the deer woods..
Hope you find an answer, but I would think the spike style woulsd need to be trenched out to accomodate the knife style, but I am not certain.
Do you really need it on there if you can't find the proper stock?

I replaced the stock on my Yugo SKS with a synthetic aftermarket model just to get an adult-sized length of pull and to get the action a little further from my nose. The installation required removal of the folding bayonet, which was fine by me. It adds nothing to the shootability or utility of the gun. Give some thought to just removing it - you can always put it back on if you revert back to the original stock.

You can cut a slot in the groove for the spike and the blade will fit in it better.

More of the blade will show than on a true 'blade-cut' stock, but since it isn't sharp it won't really matter.
