I have just purchased a set of TFO sights for my XD, and was wondering if anyone has experience with changing these? Or do you have a tool you would rec. I went to Midway's site and there is a bunch of options. I have heard that XD sights are tough to change, so was hoping someone here had done it. Any help would be appreciated.
I Bought Night Sights...
for my Glock and the shop changed them on the spot while I waited...no extra charge (I'm sure it was in the price...)...
Took 10 minutes...without the tools, it's not easy!
You should opt for pressing over pounding any day.
Most gunshops with "gunsmiths" have a sight tool that will gently press the sights out/in. This, with an even, well distributed, amount of slowly applied pressure.
As retsup has said, most shops will do it for free if you buy the sights from them. Walking in with the sights in your hand could cost you 10+ bucks. -------
thanks guys...I am heading to my favorite gun shop this weekend, so I will take it with me....I will let you know how it turns out.
TruGlo has advised me that the new generation of TFO's for XD's (which is the version that you have) are substantially easier to swap out. They did not elaborate as to the technical details, but told me that yours should be MUCH easier than the older ones. I hope this helps. Good luck!
