    Gun cabinets

Does anybody have suggestions on where to buy a old fashioned gun cabinet? Typical furniture stores don't carry them, I was wondering if any furniture manufactures even still make them.

CRAIGSLIST. They practically give them away.

I understand that you most likley want a GOOD one. I have a Davis brand solid walnut 12 gun display "case", so I understand. But I have been offered great deals on good gun cabinets, and passed for obvious reasons, and see them listed all the time on craigslist.

Most will not be top of the line, but I would sure look and keep a watch there.

In TN, Id lay odds that someone would give you a good one, just to get rid of it. Im not kidding. Everyone has gone to gun safes/vaults, or inherited a display case, and doesnt like guns, or whatever.

Ya, craigslist was my first thought. I see them all the time on there, as well as armslist, I remember coming across more than one on that site also. Nobody seems too interested in cabinets for guns anymore, everybody wants safes, for good reason IMO.

    Bass Pro sells them.

Estate sales would be another place to look.

Most of the ones I see at estate sales are press board junk, as are the ones in the stores. I see there are some online that like decent quality, but shipping is going to bust the bank if not the cabinet itself. And I hate buying something like that unseen.

I hadnt thought about craigslist. This is for my man cave which is fairly secure inside my home; I already have vaults. This is for my hunting shotguns that go in and out frequently during the season.

I think that there is a movement back to display cases. Heck, from what I have heard, it really doesnt matter if you have a gun safe. They haul the safe off with them, guns and all, instead of breaking in it on site.

For the last decade or so I have pretty much used guns safes, while a beauty of a gun display case gathered dust. This year I started using it again, and like it a lot better.

I will continue to use safes, too, but Im have brought my display case out of retirement.

the Amish will custom make you a nice one the way you want it but it's gonna cost you. i'm sure there are plenty of local cabin makers that can do the job as well.

I would modify an antique chest style cabinet and put glass inlayed on the wood doors . Antique furniture is fairly cheap and your time to modify .

I have a couple friends who didn't like their gun cabinets, because the 'glass' was too dangerous for their kids/grandkids.

One replaced the glass with acrylic, lexon, polycarbonate.... or one of those plexi-glass type materials. The other sold his to buy a small 10-12 gun safe as his teens (& their friends) were home alone enough to make him cautious.

Saw one at Wally's a couple weeks ago, but it was SPF wood & real glass. They have a bunch: Solid Wood Gun Cabinet - Walmart.com
