New sights...

I used some of my Christmas money to buy a set of XS big-dots for my Glock 19.

These things ROCK!!!

I just got back from running 200 rounds through the thing (first time I've shot since I installed them) and was very impressed. My performance at 25 yards wasn't what I'm used to with the traditional post and notch sights but that'll just take some practice. However, at 5, 7, and 10 yards, I was very pleased with the speed with which I was able to acquire the target and re-acquire for follow-up shots. Mozambique drills are a breeze with these things.

here are a couple of 7-yard groups on the 3x5" cards I was using as targets (I had a "flyer" on the top card that just notched the edge of the card :redface: ):

Been thinking of those Matt - for these aging eyes. I guess part of it is being too darned lazy to want to change anything.

May yet have to give those some consideration.

my eyesight isn't the greatest in the world either but that gigantic front-sight just jumps out at you.

They are great for close up and ugly stuff, I had them on my G22 for a long time. I never got used to them at a distance, so I took them off.

I've been considering those. I have a set of Tru Glo TFOs on my Glock 23 and some Trijicons on my 22 (thanks to my brother) but that Big Dot looks very good for close in defensive work.

I new what new sites you were talking about before clicking the post. I like these also, I want the one's with the smaller front site (dot) though. I hear those are much better for longer distances.

These seem to be the best CC sites with the quickest site picture if your able and have time to use the sites anyway.

I had tritium Big Dots on a Kahr. I liked them, mostly, but they weren't the best for me at distance. Maybe if I had given them more of a chance...but I sold the gun.
The Suresights look good, too, and I'd like to try them, but so far, I haven't seen a "gimmick" sight worth the money and trouble involved in removing, replacing, getting used to, then maybe not liking. Plus, they don't make them for anything I have at the moment. If was selling these, I think I'd carry I'd have a few pairs of identical guns with a factory set up on one, the sales sample on the other. Set up with LE at the local range. Let shooters try them out for a bit, take the sting out of the risk and maybe make a few more sales. The closest I've seen to a gimmick I'd be sure of is the recent trend of a U-shaped, wide rear and Big Dot or the smaller Big Dot fronts. Pictures of them from behind look really sharp and fast.

Sounds like you're talking about the Warren carry sights...those were the other sights that I was considering before I bought the big-dots. If for some reason I end up not liking them, I'll order a set of the Warrens.

I just put a set of Big Dot 24/7 Express sights on my G26.

I love the front sight in both light and darkness.

The rear sight is effective in darkness, but I'm not so sure I like it much in the light (i.e., daytime). I find the stripe to be too small and difficult to notice. Yes, concentration should be (and is) on the giant front sight, but it would be nice to at least have a clue where the rear sight is in relation to the front, without having to go looking for it.

My first impression is that I think I would prefer a different rear sight. If I could do it again I would probably get the XS white stripe (same as this rear but w/o tritium), Mepro tritium 2-dot, or Glock OEM steel for the rear, but still use the Big Dot for the front. I haven't been to the range with them yet though so I'm reserving final judgment for a while.

Big enough dots for the daytime... and excellent view for dim lights or at night...
