5.11 Tactical pants....I get it now

We went shopping and running some errands today and one of the stops we made was to drop off some old clothes at the Goodwill. My wife wanted to go in and look for bargains so in we went.

I roamed around the store while my wife and daughter looked at clothes and eventually ended up in the mans pants section. I have recently lost a little over 100 pounds and still shooting for another 10 to 20 pounds to loose so I am in need of some clothes. Since I am still trying to drop some more weight why not buy some pants at Goodwill since they may not fit well but for a month or two. As I was looking in the pants, to my amazement I find 2 pair of 5.11 Tactical pants.

Now, I have heard people on here talk about them and rave about them and I have looked to see how much they cost. These are $50.00 pants. With 5 kids to clothe and feed, I had pretty much given up on ever owning a pair. But there they were hanging there, in my size and costing all of $3.00 a pair! So I snapped them up.

I have been wearing a pair since we got home at 6pm and I must say, I can now really see why people like them so much. These are great pants with tons of pockets to put gear in and very comfortable.

I may never buy any more of them because of the cost but these 2 pair will be well worn by the time I am done with them.

yep, they work well. Sometimes you can find bargains on the 5.11 site.

Mike - I (and my wife) are not ashamed to admit, that while taking odd things to Goodwill we also get stuff!!

My wife found a real dandy hat (sorta cap/beret) for not much and it is quality gear - and she looks cute as cute in it. I too have made some good finds at times and am in no way bothered by going that route.

Good bargains are to be had - and glad your visit was so productive. :smilez:

Goodwill here has a big ole gunbuster sign on the door. I've found 5.11's on ebay for as little as $20 a pair. Haven't bought any yet though.

I usually wear shorts. I have 8 pair of 5.11 shorts...and rotate them as I wear them...

I have been doing this for over two years now...always comfortable...always have a clean pair...none have shown any wear...

I'm sure people wonder why I always wear the SAME shorts...

Great shorts when combined with an Instructor's Belt...

SALE on the NRA site!
The NRA site is now offering a set of jeans (kinda like the Collins "Toters", with the extra hidden pockets).
They're made by 5.11, but they're only $39! That's even cheaper than the 5.11's own website! Now that's a deal...

I wore the other pair today all day at work and I am about ready to say that I want to own nothing but more of these pants. These things are comfortable and functional beyond what I ever could have imagined.

Very well made and the slanted rear pockets make possible and easy to get my wallet out even with a holster or double magazine carrier on where as my jeans always are hard to get to the wallet when I caary.

I love these pants and I want more of them!

I took your advice. I just bought a pair of new 5.11 pants off of ebay for 20.00+ 6.95 shipping. Not bad... still quite a savings.

I'm thinking Bumper hates me....as my post disappeared (JUST JOKING!!!!! I know what happened bro).

As I mentioned....5.11s are designed by feds and thankfully issued to most of us. I love them puppies and they are the most comfortable britches I've worn, just dont wear them out in public as their right up there with being made with photographer vest and fanny packs.

We can all pray that yuppies will find out how confortable they are and buy them like crazy so we can wear them with ease.

As far as Goodwill goes....you seriously dont believe I buy them 2000 dollar suits on my salary do ya? There isnt a suit (and most of my dress shirts) in my closet that wasnt bought at Goodwill (or another thrift store). I have to admit, the stores in Wash DC had the best choices, guess them politicians gained to much weight with all them "free" meals.
