I was going to order the JUMBO™ VERSIPACK for concealed carry when I go hiking. Has anyone used one of these? Is the universal holster stable? How is the draw from the bag; slow? they look like a very well made, thought out product.

My wife and I each have one. They are great for day hikes. I even take mine when I go fishing. I can carry a full size 1911 or even a Ruger Super Redhawk (unscoped) in mine with no problem. It's not a really fast draw, but it is more than adequate
i love mine... hiking is actually the only time i used it for CCW. the rest of the time, i keep my firearm on my person.
that being said, my XD 40 service fits very comfortably in it and the draw is very natural and easy. great bag... only thing i've found is to be sure to balance it well w/ something heavy in the front pocket if you use the water bottle holder or it will cant strangely. the first few times out i carried it backwards on the opposite side as intended to counter this.
for long hikes, i usually just carry a camel back for H20 and put snacks and paracord in the jumbo's rear pocket.
on a final note, i'd try to find a retailer who still has some of the "old style" jumbos. the new ones don't have the molle strips on the top of the flap pocket and have replaced it with velcro which i think is atrocious. I love clipping a compas and watch to those straps.
I may have to get one of those Jumbos.
I have used the Fatboy for CCW while hiking.
I really like the looks of this bag.
Are these carried at any retail stores where one could look at them? I'd like to get a good look at one before I committed to buying one.
I'm Trying to decide between ACU-Compatible Digital Foliage Camo and tan. Would the camo stick out in looks kind of subdued? Here is a few links to max gear reviews.

I'm now thinking of getting the S-type(lefty) jumbo because the water bottle holder will be in front (on the right side) and not cant the pack as much. Also my radio antenna wont hit my arm as much. The draw would be different because they don't have double zippers yet.
Anyone try this?

Thats the THERMITE™ VERSIPACK. The jumbo is more expensive and bigger.

I have had mine for somewhat over a year and carry it on a daily basis. Sometimes as a concealed carry bag other times just as a general purpose carryall bag. Either way, it has turned out to be an outstanding investment. At the outset one should know that Maxpedition products are somewhat overbuilt. And the Jumbo is no different. Really wears well and is an excellent piece of equipment.
I bought a Jumbo a couple weeks ago and I love it. I don't necessarily like term sometimes used to describe it...a Man Purse. My masculinity is relatively unscathed.
I have it with me at all times, much to my Wife's chagrin.
I have one that I use during hunting season. I also have used it while traveling to carry a spare pistol (primary is in a holster) & other necessities....good product, well made.
I'm left handed so the right side carry works for me, it doesn't block my access to holstered gun on the other side. While hunting I carry my rifle in my left hand & pack is on the right.
I just ordered one...the Jumbo versipack. I plan on using it while commuting on my mountain bike to and from work. Hope I like it...lol
