Sorry, this case is not open-and-shut just as soon as someone mentions Fenix.

I would recommend an Inova T2. Plenty bright, plenty tough, only around $40, and has a clicky, momentary-on tailcap switch. How could this thread have garnered 11 replies and no one mentioned Inova?? Are you all that hot to throw your money at the ChiComs?!

Beyond that, if price constraints are not tight, I would go with any of the SureFire LED models. I just spent a hundred bucks on an E1L Outdoorsman, which runs on 1 CR123 and is light, small, but tactically effective (in my view).
I have no problem with the momentary-on button and don't imagine a situation where I would need to have momentary-on immediately avaliable.

I did much research on the Fenix before I bought, on several flashlight websites and forums. The tests don't lie, it's a badass flashlight.

I wasn't shopping for a light made in a particular country.

I second the Inova. I have a T1 and it is really nice. Check out this site for doing some research,

That site is no longer updated. Most of the new, better EDC lights are not on there. http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/ is the best place to learn.

    SureFire E2e...

I have had my E2e for almost 4 years now...never a problem. Bright enough for SD...small enough for pocket carry...very dependable!
The last Blood Moon Tetrad for this millennium starts in April 2014 and ends in September 2015...according to NASA.

I picked up a little Brinkmann LED light at Target a while back. Runs on three AAA batteries and cost under $30. I don't know the stats but I think it is a one watt luxeon LED. I don't see this light on their website, but it is five inches long, one and a quarter across the front and has the switch on the tail cap and has a removeable spring steel clip.
