    Mec-Gar Sig P226 Magazine

I purchased 2 Mec-Gar mags for my P226. Quality wise, they seem to be very good, but they do not reliably lock the slide back on a empty chamber. The reason for this is the projection or (doohickey) on the side of the follower that activates the slide lock is shorter than the OEM mags. They are OK for range work, but I would not trust them for SD purposes.

I'm going to contact them to see if they would be covered under warranty.

Mec-Gar magazine's are the SIG OEM magazines.

    Mec-Gar manufactures them for SIG.

If you are having a problem with them Mec-Gar will take of you.

If for any reason they do not....send them a link to this thread and then they will....when they discover that a few thousand gun owners are curious as to how their customer service is these days.

Mec-Gar is OEM for the P226 and always has been. The won't say Sig Sauer on the side but they should say Made in Italy. Some newer Sig models are using Checkmate Magazines but not in any of the classic models like the P226 or P220.

Thanks guys. I'll try it again tomorrow and see if the slide stays back. Right now, I'm too tired.

Weird...my factory mags that came with my 226 are Mec Gar. Bought three more of them and they all work fine.

I didn't mean to come across that way. I was very tired when I wrote that post. In fact, I don't even remember writing it.

Mec gar is the Sig OEM as already noted. Are you sure you're not shooting high thumbs riding the catch? It's common with Sigs, I do it all the time myself

I've been very busy over the last few days. My Mother fell and broke her hip (she's 94), and I've had to take care of some personal matters. Anyway, the issue is with only one mag, the other mag locks the slide back every time. The mag that came with the gun works fine as well.

Only one mag came with the gun as it was purchased used. The gunsmith at my LGS swore it was brand new when he looked at it. His remark was, you made one heck of a buy, that's $500 less than my cost, even though it came with one mag, no box.

Mec gar is the Sig OEM
I've also discovered Mec Gar is Walther OEM.
