In the market for a new belt....suggestions?

Well, it seems that I have reached the weight my body intends to stay at. I went from near 300 pounds down to 160. I will probably put some weight on but, it won't be fat this time as I have shifted the majority of my workout from cardio to weight lifting.

My waist is now a 30 down from 46 and I have had to get a few new belts along the way. I have not gone for expensive gun belts during all this because I knew I was still dropping weight and would need new pants and belts every 2 months or so. But, I have leveled off and so, I am in search of a new gun belt that I will be wearing for the next few years.

I have considered the 5.11 trainers belt and I may buy one of those but I would also like to get a good leather belt. I would be interested in hearing any and all suggestions for belts from our members.

The one I had when I started dropping the weight was made by a great man who has since died.

I've never seen or heard a negative comment about Jim. I don't hesitate to recommend him. He'll get you fixed up.

And congrats on the weight loss. That's one hell of an accomplishment, and you should be proud. I have no doubt you're feeling 100% better!

See my thread about the 5.11 leather belt. For $29.98 it looks good, wears good and holds up my full size 1911.

The only problem I found was the size chart seems one size small. I have a 38 waist and needed the 40-42 (XL) belt.

I have to mention my favorite belt maker, RafterS Gunleather.

Same, here. With the taper, these are extremely comfortable belts. Have one in natural/tan and one in black. They are nowhere near as expensive as some, though quite a bit more than the woven/web type. If you need to firm them up even more, you can opt for inclusion of a stiffener panel between the layers, though I haven't found that necessary as the standard ones are plenty firm to handle a ~34oz gun on a holster.

Try these folks. I have bought a few of their belts. Good quality leather, They hold my SA Champion or my Glock30 with ease.

Picked up a Gould & Goodrich last summer, and have been very pleased with it, but always looking for a new belt myself.
